Knowing this concept, I didn't criticize her. I just shut my mouth and looked angry, but deep inside, it really hurts. I told myself, "Don't try kissing me after I brush my teeth." That was a joke, but deep inside it really hurts a lot. Then she started apologizing when she saw me looking angry. I never said anything to criticize her because I learned long ago that it won't make any difference.
What I did was to forgive her. Forgiveness is the key not to criticize other people. Forgiveness will make us a better person. God wanted us to forgive other people’s mistakes.
“Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven." (Luke 6:37 NIV)
Criticism will not make a lasting change no matter how much we want to correct our partner. They will justify themselves. Key number 1 to win your partner's heart is not to criticize nor condemn them but to forgive them.
It applies to friendship as well, if you want more friends, do not criticize or condemn them. Instead do this next secret.
